Initial work on the clean up efforts for the Jack Burns Memorial Park started on May 13th, 2011. The First Wesleyan Church started connection groups and with the direction of their Pastor, Kevin Murrell, they decided that each connection group would do a service project for the community. Jack Burns Memorial Park (North Kendall Park) was one of those projects.
The R.I.P (Rick Irwin Project) soon joined in the efforts with determination and complete dedication to raising funds to renovate the park (see drawings) after the sudden death of Rick Irwin. This is a great opportunity for the community to pull together to give our children a place to play and have fun. Rick Irwin lived on N. Kendall Avenue for most of his childhood and spent every summer at the North Kendall Park as many of us did growing up. Our mission is to be the voice of the next generation and give everything we have to make this happen. It is going to take community involvement and support to make this project a success, so please support the effort in anyway possible.
